Prairie Burn

Prairie Burn

Typically done every 3 to 4 years a controlled prairie burn is an important part of preventative maintenance and upkeep for a prairie.

With the recent droughts and sweeping wildfires that destroy homes and habitats for humans and animals alike it is very important to do prairie burns (under the control and supervision of a trained professional). It helps keep the undergrowth to a minimum- keeping damaging wildfires at bay, as well as allowing for new growth to break free. It also keeps invasive species and non-native plants at bay, keeping your prairie beautiful and native to the area.

The grasses need to be burned as early as possible in the spring, while the grass is still dry, before birds and animals have started nesting and have a need for habitat.
