Stromboli Pizza Roll Recipe

Pizza RollI love pizza- it’s an American tradition. It’s delicious and you can put anything on it, from fresh out of the garden goodies, to meat, meat and more meat. It can get a bit old though to eat pizza again and again, so I decided to switch it up a bit.

If crust is one of your favorite elements to pizza you’ll love this recipe- more layers of crust when it’s rolled. I like using bread dough because it gives more rise to the dough, and I love a thick crust. Stromboli Pizza Rolls are great because you still get the same flavors of pizza, it’s just as easy to make and you can serve it at parties because it looks fancier. Plus kids love to help in the kitchen with adding the toppings.

If you’re going for a well ’rounded’ meal try a dessert of delicious cinnamon rolls to finish it off!

1/2 Cup Spaghetti Sauce
10-20 Pepperoni Slices
1 Cup Mozzarella Cheese, Shredded
1/4 tsp. Olive Oil
1/4 tsp. Garlic Salt
1/2 tsp. Italian Seasoning
Additional Toppings: Mushrooms, peppers, onions, olives, ground beef, etc.

Pizza Crust FlavorLightly flavored dough before ingredients (above) get added.

Directions:

1. Allow your dough to rise per recipe instructions. If using frozen bread dough follow package instructions for rise-time.
2. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Place a sheet of parchment paper inside a cookie sheet.
3. Roll out dough onto parchment paper so that it fits flat inside of cookie sheet. Season dough by sprinkling it with garlic salt and half of the Italian seasoning.
4. Spread sauce evenly across dough, careful to not get too close to the edges. Evenly distribute the pepperoni and additional toppings of your choosing. Top with cheese.
5. Lift one of the long edges of dough and start rolling inward, slowly covering up the pizza toppings until you have a long pizza roll. Sprinkle remaining Italian seasoning on top.
6. Cook in oven for 45 min or until crust is browned and cooked through. Slice into pieces. Serve warm.
