Kansas’s Oldest Courthouse still in use

Driving into Cottonwood FallsDriving into Cottonwood Falls, Kansas feels like driving back in time. At the center of town sits the Chase County Courthouse; regal and formal-looking at the edge of a long brick street that still houses plenty of local businesses.

Driving off the beaten path and into town for just a glimpse of the oldest operating courthouse in all of Kansas is well worth it. It was built by John G. Haskell in 1873 and has been on the National Register of Historic Places sine 1971.

Stroll through the little artisan and antique shops while you’re in town. Maybe you’ll find a treasure or two- I know I did.
