My great-grandparents built this barn for their cows in the early 1900s, but it fell into disrepair after they stopped raising cattle. Instead of letting the barn fall into itself and disappear completely we renovated it into a home; complete with all the amenities, plus that something special- the history that every old building deserves!
The barn has a unique design. The atrium part (where all three stories are open- photo above) is not heated, which means it’s cold in the winter and warm in the summer. The rest of the space is heated and has central air conditioning. The only down side to the whole design is you have to take the stairs in the atrium to get to each floor- but that’s ok- it keeps us young, plus the natural woodwork that’s on display in the atrium makes it worth it any day.
I should also mention that this is where I’m getting married in the fall. It should be the perfect setting for a simple farm wedding, complete with hay bales and lawn games! I’ll keep you posted on details.
I love this so much!!!! Perfect space for your wedding!!!
Thanks! We’re pretty excited about it- It’s nice that it has so much family history too- makes it feel like even those that are no longer with us still have a part in the party ;c)
