Road tripping along the coast of Maine, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island has its benefits. From gorgeous fall colors to the delicious seafood meals there is so much to see and do.
Coast of Maine
These iPhone photos, taken from my live instagram feed, are a few highlights and a quick sampling from this week’s adventures so far. We’re on a coastal road trip through Maine and up the coast into Canada- a trip that I have wanted to do since I was a little girl and watched Anne of Green Gables for the first time (and since I discovered the luxury of eating lobster!)
A little rain and fog can’t hide the beauty of fall that surrounds the Maine coast. Bright yellows, oranges and reds can be seen from near and far- though after the storms on Friday there may not be much left after this weekend!
Ogunquit is a quaint fishing village that has exploded as a tourist destination. Walk across the Perkin’s Cove drawbridge to watch the lobster fisherman as they unload their haul for the day!
Try the steamed lobster or clams from Barnacle Billy’s after exploring Ogunquit. The clam chowder and lobster rolls are world famous, but everything is sinfully delicious!
Standing at 31 feet tall, Bangor, Maine has the largest Paul Bunyan statue in the world. As a good Minnesotan I am a little bit flabbergasted as to how “our” iconic lumberjack ended up in Bangor, where they claim rights to his birthplace, but on the flip side, it’s nice to see a familiar face when traveling!
