Furnishings or Home Building Needs
1. Vine Home Thrift Store
This well organized and clean store offers a large assortment of home furnishings, ranging from large furniture like dressers to chairs and laundry hampers. They carry all kinds of crafters needs, for yarn to fake flowers to frames. If you ever have a need for kitchen supplies- start here! They have several designs of dishes, every imaginable kitchen device and even towels and hot pads! If you’re treasure hunting for antiques or mid-century modern items this is a good place to start, but you might have to return on a weekly or monthly basis as the inventory is always changing!
Location: 77 Star Street in Mankato their weekday hours are 10 AM to 7 PM, Saturday (10 to 5) and Sunday (12 to 5)
Donations: when you’re ready to change out your furniture, they are happy to come and pick up your old furniture for you! All donations are tax deductible and proceeds go to VINE Faith in Action.
2. Habitat for Humanity ReStore
Whether you’re doing a kitchen upgrade or just switching out light fixtures, the ReStore is the place to start! They have anything from tile to appliances to doors and handles to cabinets. There is always a new and different treasure to find at the ReStore!
Location: They are currently located at 1751 Bassett Drive in Mankato, though are in the process of building a new, larger store (!!) so that will change soon. Tues. to Fri. hours are 10 AM to 6 PM, Saturday 10 AM to 4:30 PM.
Donations: home construction and rehabbing. Here’s their list of requirements. All proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity.
While the furniture selection here isn’t as good as at VINE you can still find some great items. If you’re shopping for your kitchen it’s definitely a good third choice. Being very well-laid out means you can go directly to the section you’re most interested in. For example to the right along the back wall you can find all the ribbon, yarns and patterns for crafting or clothes creation (and even purchase cloth for your project!) then to the left when you first walk in is a good place to treasure hunt for antiques or mid-century modern items, but you might have to return on a weekly or monthly basis as the inventory is always changing!
If you want to be extra thrifty shop here on Wednesdays or Fridays after 5 to get 50% off of your purchase!
Location: 201 Star St., Mankato. Weekdays are open from 8:30 AM to 8 PM and on Saturdays 8:30 AM to 6 PM.
Donations: They accept quality items ranging from clothes to kitchen goods. All donations are tax deductible and proceeds go to helping fund the Salvation Army needs.
