I feel truly blessed to live on a farm, a farm that’s been in my family for 4 generations. Not many people can say that. Plus this amazing farm has a bunch of blueberry bushes that I helped plant, back when I was 8… So the blueberry plants are past being mature and into old age, but they still produce enough to make me happy.
For this recipe and my other blueberry recipes I only recommend farm fresh blueberries. I have eaten blueberries from the store and sworn off of them. The flavors are about a tenth of what they are when grown locally. Yet another reason to eat from nearby.
For canning your Blueberry Bliss you will need these tools:
Sanitized Jars (pint or 1/2 pint size is best)
Water Bath Canner (any large pot with boiling water will do, just make sure to have something in the bottom of the pot so that the jars aren’t sitting on the metal)
Stainless Steel Pot (or any non-reactive pot; for cooking blueberry liquid)
Jar Lifter, Screw Bands, Lids
Potato Masher
Permanent Marker
Don’t forget to have some fun! If you like to play with your food- this is your chance! Mash your blueberries with your fingers rather than a potato masher.

- 8 cups blueberries
- 3 cups sugar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1/4 tsp lemon peel
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tsp cinnamon
Ingredients

- Fill water bath pot with water, put on stove and cover so that it will be boiling by the time you are ready to use it.
- Put lids in hot water to soften wax around rims for an easier seal.
- Smash blueberries with a potato masher (or by hand if you're trying to make it fun). You will end up with about 6 cups of smashed berries
- Add blueberries to stainless steel pot and add sugar and honey. Bring to a boil.
- Add lemon juice, lemon peel, nutmeg and cinnamon.
- Cook ingredients for about 10 more min, but not too long that your syrup begins to thicken, like jam.
- Remove from stove and pour blueberry bliss liquid into jars.
- Wipe rims of jars with a clean cloth. Secure lids and screw on bands.
- Process in water bath for 10 min. Remove and let cool.
Finish off by labeling your jars with your permanent marker.
