Every year Black Friday seems to be more and more about spending money and shopping, but this year why not get out with the family and enjoy some free black Friday activities. Get out, explore and travel
5 Free Black Friday Activities
1. Visit a Minnesota state park.
All entrance admission fees waived on Black Friday at all 67 MN state parks (and all state recreation areas).
2. Go ice skating in Saint Paul in Rice Park
Skating is free. Bring your own skates or show your Wells Fargo debit card for free skate rental (otherwise skate rentals are $4.00)
3. Explore the Bentleyville “Tour of Lights” in Duluth.
The largest Christmas light display in Minnesota, right along Lake Superior, so bundle up and enjoy some lights with the family!
4. Watch the parade at the Mankato Kiwanis Holiday Lights Parade.
Speaking of light displays, Mankato has a fabulous one as well. Watch the parade in Sibley Park, Mankato and then the lighting ceremony for the beginning of the 5th season for the Kiwanis Holiday Lights (plus see Santa after 9:00)!
5. Tour the Macy’s Santaland Display
On the 8th floor of the downtown Minneapolis Macy’s department store a little Christmas magic happens every year when they put out their santaland display. You can even share your Christmas wish list with Santa while there!
Great ideas. And I’ll be in Mankato that way too.
That’s awesome Anung! Did you get to the Kiwani’s lights? What did you think?
I love this list! I’m not a Black Friday shopper, so I’ll be getting extra family time on Friday!
I’m with you on that Bree! I am the opposite of a Black Friday shopper so was so excited to make this list (and then explore everything I could on Friday ;-) I hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend!
