From a Local’s Point of View

Boys in an Oklahoman wheat fieldThe best way to learn about a place is to ask the locals, right? So I did.

I gathered the four cutest subjects, all under the age of 10, that I could find and asked them what I should know about Oklahoma. Here is what I learned. (disclaimer: probably a good idea not to take this for fact, even if you are reading it on the entirely honest internet)

Since I was visiting an agricultural area (note the fresh wheat in the photo with the boys) I also learned about cow manure. Perhaps most importantly, I learned How to tell the difference between fresh and old cow piles (manure). (I would think that self explanatory without a photo or description so won’t go into detail).

Pretty much all of us, including the dog ended up getting wood ticks, and I found out that they good by just plain ‘ticks’ and that saying wood in front of the name just confuses things.

Oklahoma is the #1 most deadly state and here’s why.
It is because Oklahoma is: #1 in Tornadoes, #2 in Earthquakes, and #3 in Hurricanes

* While Oklahoma is definitely dangerous when it comes to tornados (my heart goes out to those whose life has been affected but such horrible catastrophes), and there are tremors and earthquakes reported in Oklahoma, I don’ t think it is probably ranked that high in most of those “rankings”. That being said, there is some truth to that tidbit: in 2013 Oklahoma was ranked in the top 10 for Most Dangerous States based on its violent crime rates.

Mostly though I learned about their life and how good it feels to spend time with family. How could you not with those faces?!
