Dog Friendly Mankato- What to see, do and eat with your pup

Dog Friendly Mankato
Getting out and enjoying the weather is always the best part of the summer months, but it’s even better when we can include our dog, Pepper Jones, in on the fun. Unfortunately, finding a dog-friendly establishment isn’t always fun or easy. This guide is meant to help you plan your next dog-friendly date night or day long adventure.

Dog Friendly Mankato

Walking the dog in Mankato

Walking:

Every dog friendly adventure should involve a walk or two.

There are several spots along the Red Jacket Trail that are great for enjoying nature while walking your pup. My favorite spot to take Pepper is over the Red Jacket Trestle that crosses the Le Sueur River. Driving directions to the trestle from Mankato.

Dog walks in Minneopa State Park

Minneopa State Park, just outside of Mankato on Highway 68, is also a great spot to explore with your dog.

Note: Mankato and North Mankato city parks do not allow dogs.

Riverfront Drive in Old Town Mankato has a lot to offer for a dog stroll. Check out Riverfront Park and walk down to the Minnesota River, or stroll along some of the local shops along the street- Mom and Pop’s Ice Cream and The Coffee Hag are two dog-friendly locations that have water bowls at the ready for your dog to hydrate as you walk.

Treats, Treats, and Water:

The Coffee Hag Fresh Water & Homemade Treats

The Coffee Hag is a great place to grab a quick beverage for yourself and a drink for your dog as well. Their water bowl is out during the warmer months rain or shine. Sometimes they even have homemade doggie treats available inside. If you don’t see them, ask, but they may just be out.

Have to fear if you miss out on doggie treats there, Mom and Pop’s Ice Cream is always prepared for a dog visit. A nice sign inside reads: “DOG Treats! If you have your dog with, feel free to take a treat or two!” And from past experience I can guarantee they won’t last long!

Dog Friendly Treat

Mom and Pop’s Ice Cream goes beyond that in their love for animals and also has a tip jar that goes directly to help rescued animals. All you have to do is visit their Facebook page to see their love of pets. Definitely a pet-friendly business.

Just for Fun:

Mankato Brewery Dog-Friendly Patio

Sometimes going out needs to be all about you, but taking along your dog sure does make it better. The Mankato Brewery has a dog-friendly patio where they even have poop baggies available for unforeseen incidents. On warm nights when they have live music playing the garage doors from the patio to brewery may be open and you can enjoy the companionship of mans’ best friend in conjunction with some amazing music and beer. What could be better.
